Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s appearance together at this year’s BAFTAs led to a joke that social media users can’t get over.
While attending the ceremony in London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, Chalamet, 29, and Jenner, 27, sat together — prompting the show’s host, David Tennant, to tease the couple.
In a clip shared on TikTok, Tennant is seen announcing that somebody in the crowd deserved “a very special mention.”
“We’re very privileged tonight to be joined by the runner-up in New York’s recent Timothée Chalamet look-alike competition,” Tennant said before gesturing toward Chalamet, whose portrayal of Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown” has been raking in the awards nominations this year.
Tennant’s joke was in reference to the viral look-alike contest in New York’s Washington Square Park last October, in which the actor showed up to witness a sea of his doppelgängers gathered in person.
Tennant went on to ask Chalamet how long he would be in London, to which the “Dune” star replied, “Three days.”
“You’ve got to work on the voice, not quite got the voice yet,” Tennant quipped, before setting his sights on an adjacent Jenner.
“But lovely attention to detail, you’re with a Kylie Jenner lookalike!” he said. “Well done, well done team!”
The couple laughed at the host’s joke, but Jenner went an extra step by animatedly pointing to herself while mouthing the words, “It’s me!”
Jenner’s response set off a string of comments on TikTok and elsewhere, as users accused the reality star of not understanding Tennant’s “lookalike” reference.
“Kylie did not get the joke i fear 😭😭,” one person wrote.
Another said, “Kylie has no idea who anyone is or what’s going on 😂.”
“The way she didn’t get his joke either 😭😭,” someone else added.
Other TikTok users defended Jenner, with one noting that her response could’ve been her way of “joking” back with Tennant.
“Everyone saying she didn’t get the joke, I think she did and tried joking with them! she’s saying something like ‘that’s me’ or something,” another wrote.
Someone else added, “Everyone saying she doesn’t get it like she doesn’t have internet at home????”
Chalamet and Jenner were first linked romantically in April 2023. The pair made their public debut after they were photographed kissing at Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour months later in September.
