Britney Spears Speaks Out After Lighting Cigarette On Airplane In Bizarre Incident

Britney Spears’ recent flight turned into quite the circus after the musician apparently made a toxic faux pas. Now, she’s addressing the drama surrounding it all.

The pop star initially made headlines last week after lighting a cigarette on a flight from Cabo San Lucas to Los Angeles on May 22. Smoking on airplanes is illegal under U.S. federal aviation rules.

The alarmed flight crew contacted authorities, who met Spears when the plane landed, according to multiple outlets. The musician was issued a warning about smoking on the flight before she was allowed to leave.

In an Instagram post the next day, Spears, who admitted she had been drinking on the flight as well, recounted the incident. She called it “incredibly funny” while sharing details about the ordeal from her perspective.

“Some planes I’ve been on you can’t smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on outside of seat !!!” she wrote. “Confession it was my first time drinking VODKA!!! I swear I felt so SMART!!! I was like wow what the heck is in there !!! I felt so clear and smart !!! And said I want a cigarette so bad !!!”

The singer claimed her friend then lit a cigarette for her, leading her to believe smoking was allowed on the plane.

“My friend put it in my mouth and lit it up for me so I was like OH SO THIS IS A PLANE WHERE YOU CAN SMOKE !!!” she continued.

The singer went on to apologize for her actions, but called out the flight crew’s response as “kinda much.” She also alleged that one particular flight attendant “didn’t like me the moment I got on [the] plane.”

Spears added, “She wouldn’t let me get out of my seat I wanted to stand up !!! She acted so weird about making sure I sat down and it was weird !!!” she added of the flight attendant. “I didn’t like the way she put the seatbelt on me and invaded my space !!!”
