Big Sean Responds To Viral Video Claiming His Abs Are Fake

Big Sean is clearing the air after the internet questioned the authenticity of his abs.

Social media users have been speculating for months about the rapper’s appearance after he showed off his stomach in a Complex Shop promo video late last year.

The discourse ramped up earlier this week after fitness influencer Blake Sanburg posted a video debating whether the star had gone under the knife to achieve his chiseled look.

In the clip posted Monday, Sanburg compared an image of the musician’s abs from the Complex promo footage to a 2015 photo of the rapper. The influencer said that Big Sean has “extremely defined abs” before commenting that they now appear to be “sitting on top of a bubble gut.”

Sandburg wrapped up the video by suggesting that Big Sean (real name Sean Michael Leonard Anderson) possibly underwent an ab-etching procedure or is taking steroids.

After Sanburg’s analysis began making the rounds on social media, Big Sean stepped into the comments section of the video to shut down the claims that he surgically enhanced his abs.

“Bro, unfortunately mine are real lol. I got love for the fake [ab] community tho, to each its own, but what makes this funnier is this is the way God made me,” he commented.

He went on to quip that when he’s out of shape, he “just happen[s] to look like a chewed up tootsie roll.”

The Grammy-winning artist added, “But i can only speak for myself. I only have to say something cause this shit is getting way outta hand [laughing emoji].”

Instagram users shared mixed thoughts in the comments section of the video.

“It’s video editing in my opinion plus makeup,” one person alleged.

Another argued, “There’s this thing called genetics…and also a thing called bloat[ing]…you can have a puffed belly under defined abs…”

“No ones abs [are] sticking out that much when nothing else is defined, look at his neck and shoulders for example,” someone else speculated.

A separate user defended the rapper, writing, “I see Big Sean at the gym consistently since 2019…he works/trains very hard.”

In a separate video, Sanburg claimed that the Detroit-born emcee had messaged him privately about the ordeal.

“I commented on your video, this shit is funny cause thats the way i was made,” Big Sean allegedly wrote according to a photo of the message that Sanburg shared. “i just gained Dad weight n had to crack down on working out as i got older bro.”

Noting that his “body has gone [through] a lot,” he concluded, “No surgery though. Cant believe i have to explain myself.”

Big Sean became a father in 2022 after welcoming his son, Noah Hasani, with girlfriend Jhené Aiko. The “Sativa” singer also shares a daughter, Namiko, with R&B singer Omarion’s brother O’Ryan (real name O’Ryan Omri Browner).
