Chelsea Handler Says She ‘Dodged A Bullet’ When Andrew Cuomo Ghosted Her

Though Chelsea Handler expressed some horny thoughts about former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, she’s grateful her crush on the disgraced Democrat didn’t pan out in the end.

Speaking to New York Post’s Page Six Wednesday, Handler recalled exchanging a series of racy text messages with Cuomo in 2020, noting she “dodged a bullet” when he ghosted her before their flirtation could be consummated.

“My life is filled with dodging bullets,” the comedian told the outlet, noting that not hooking up with Cuomo was “just one example.”

“I’ve been dodging bullets since I was 4,” she added. “My sister even says it. She says, ‘It always seems to work out for you!’ But she doesn’t seem happy about it.”

Handler acknowledged her “deep sexual feelings” for Cuomo in her 2020 comedy special, “Chelsea Handler: Evolution.”

“The thing is, I like older men, which brings me to the strong and deep sexual feelings that I have developed for Andrew Cuomo,” she said at the time. “I want him to flatten my curve, then I want to flatten his curve. And then I want us to apex together.”

She went even further while appearing on “The View” that same year, comparing Cuomo to the Incredible Hulk.

“We were so dehydrated for real leadership that when he came on the scene looking like this big Italian hunk, I was like … ‘I’ll wear a mask. I’ll put a mask on every part of my body.’”

Of course, Handler wasn’t alone in her, um, admiration for Cuomo at the time. Many Americans playfully identified themselves as “Cuomosexuals” in the early days of COVID-19, given the former governor’s relative competence and adherence to pandemic-related safety measures at a time when they were being rebuffed by many conservatives.

Cuomo resigned from office in August 2021 after a report issued by the New York attorney general found he sexually harassed at least 11 women. A separate investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice found Cuomo subjected at least 13 state employees to a sexually hostile work environment and that his staffers retaliated against four women who raised complaints.

Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the subsequent investigations as political smears.

As for Handler, she announced that her crush on Cuomo was “over” shortly after the allegations came to light.

In her new memoir, “I’ll Have What She’s Having,” she acknowledges she and Cuomo “could have ended up in bed” together if she “hadn’t been so forward and declared what I was looking for.”

“It seemed he preferred touching women who weren’t interested in him,” she wrote, “rather than touching women who were.”
