‘How About That!’: Stephen Colbert Counters GOP Proposal With 1 Explicit Offer

Late Show” host Stephen Colbert on Thursday took on Republicans for proposing major cuts to a federal anti-hunger program to help offset tax cuts for President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.”

Colbert noted that GOP lawmakers proposed limiting nutrition aid to just U.S. citizens and green card holders as they look to slash over $300 billion in federal funding to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — which helps more than 42 million Americans purchase food — in the next decade.

“Or, counterpoint, hear me out, what if we keep giving food to all the hungry children and, to make up for that, Republicans can eat a dick. How about that?” said Colbert before his crowd cheered for over 10 seconds.

“You know what? You know what? In fact, let’s be generous. They can eat a bag of dicks.”

Moments earlier, Colbert also pointed to Republicans proposing massive cuts to Medicaid, a move that could result in 8.6 million fewer Americans with health care coverage in ten years.

“I, for one, look forward to the pharmaceutical ads,” said Colbert before he turned to a close-up camera angle.
