“Daily Show” host Jordan Klepper tore apart Elon Musk on Wednesday as Tesla dealerships, electric vehicles and charging stations face a rise in attacks amid backlash over the billionaire’s role in President Donald Trump’s administration.
“Let me just say, nobody should be breaking the law and blowing up Teslas especially because if you just wait a few minutes they’ll probably do it by themselves,” Klepper quipped.
Americans’ anger toward Musk’s support of cuts to federal spending has led to a spike in arson and vandalism targeting his company.
Klepper noted that some people have been “leaving helpful messages” behind about their ire with the billionaire before turning to a news clip by CBS’ San Diego affiliate showing a vandalized Tesla dealership in Encinitas, California.
But the vandalism, which a reporter claimed was “too graphic to show in its entirety,” wasn’t totally blurred from the clip as the words “NAZI” followed by “CUM” (what was left of a partially-obscured “SCUM”) still appeared.
“Uh,” said Klepper who took a pause as the crowd laughed at the not-so-censored “NAZI CUM” image.
“I think you might have wanted to blur out a little more there because — now it just looks like they just wrote, I mean.”
He continued, “Obviously, Elon has a lot of kids so he’s got a lot of, you know but — you don’t have to be so overt.”
