‘Kimmel’ Guest Host Nicole Byer Shares Exactly Why Americans Have Government ‘Trust Issues’

Jimmy Kimmel Live” guest host Nicole Byer shared a “totally unsurprising sign of the times” on Thursday as she highlighted a recent survey that found just 33% of Americans trust the federal government.

“The study was conducted by The Institute of Our President is a 34-Time Convicted Felon,” quipped Byer in a jab at Donald Trump.

The comedian then turned to Abraham Lincoln’s famous description of the government being “of the people, by the people, for the people.”

“See? OK, that’s the problem right there. Have you met the people? We suck,” Byer joked.

She went on to pinpoint why Americans have “trust issues” with their political leaders.

“Back in 2016, we dated this awful guy for four years who cheated on us with a porn star and lied about literally everything and then we immediately jumped into a relationship with a much, much, much older man who promised to take care of us and then kind of just like wandered off into the woods,” Byer began.

“So now we’re back with our terrible ex and he’s crazier than ever and we can’t stop fantasizing about that smoke show we shacked up with in college who gave us healthcare!”

The comedian swiftly began to fantasize about Barack Obama as a shirtless picture of the former president.

“Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm! Yes, we can!” she declared.
