Nicole Kidman Reveals Her Mother’s Touching Final Words To Her

Nicole Kidman is making sure to honor her mother’s last words to her.

During an interview on CBS “Sunday Morning” this weekend, the Oscar-winner opened up about the grief of losing a parent while also sharing the profound advice her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, gave her before her death in September.

“She knew everything,” Kidman told correspondent Tracy Smith. “And that’s probably the biggest loss.”

Kidman went on to reveal how she had no idea that the last time they talked would be her final conversation with her mom.

“The final words my mama said, which I didn’t know were gonna be the final words: I was going to get on a plane and go back to see her,” the “Big Little Lies” actor said.” And she was like, ‘Maybe wait a minute because I think you just need to take care of yourself right now, Nicky.’”

“So, I’m doing that more,” she went on. “And I say that to other people in the world, and particularly women. I think we tend not to take care of ourselves. We take care of everybody else but the last person is here.”

“My grandmother said ‘Be happy,’ and my mom said, ‘Take care of yourself,’” Kidman added.

The “Moulin Rouge” star found out about her mother’s death in early September shortly after arriving at the Venice International Film Festival for the premiere of her new film, “Baby Girl.”

Upon leaving the festival early to be with family, Kidman had “Baby Girl” director Halina Reijn read a statement in her mother’s honor.

“I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me and she made me,” it read. “I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken.”
