Seth Meyers on Monday tackled the eyebrow-raising — and misleading — comment from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon about Donald Trump potentially running for president again in 2028.
“Since it doesn’t actually say consecutive, that I don’t know. Are you guys down for that? Trump ’28,” Bannon asked the New York Young Republican Club Gala on Sunday.
“First of all, ‘Trump ’28’ sounds like his golf score when he cheats,” Meyers began.
“Now, this is an obvious troll from Bannon,” the “Late Night” host said.
The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution states, “No person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice.”
Meyers then added, “But then again, they’re always trolling until they’re not. Republicans are like guys who jokingly propose a three-way with their wife and her best friend. ‘I mean, that’d be so crazy, right? I mean, unless you’re into it…’”
