Jennifer Hudson’s Courtside Mishap Goes Viral At Knicks Game With Boyfriend Common

Jennifer Hudson found herself thrust into the spotlight after an awkward accident at a recent New York Knicks game.

While attending the team’s match against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, the singer, 43, was struck in the face by a soaring basketball in a clip that has since gone viral.

In the footage, Hudson unexpectedly took a basketball to the face as she sat courtside at New York City’s Madison Square Garden with her partner Common, 52. Hudson and Common (real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn) went public with their relationship back in January 2024.

“Protect Jennifer Hudson!” a sports commentator yelled out after the Knicks’ Miles McBride, 24, tried to recover the ball that had slipped through his fingers, subsequently striking Hudson.

In the clip, McBride can be seen checking to make sure the “Dreamgirls” actor was okay as Common embraced her. She then adjusted her glasses that were hanging onto her ears after the incident.

“Oh no, not the glasses,” another commentator said as the camera pivoted to a visibly stunned Hudson. “Those look real expensive, too.”

“Let me see what Common did. Did he protect her? No, no he didn’t,” the second commentator teased as his co-host claimed the actor “tried.”
