Spanish actor José de la Torre has died at the age of 37, just months after telling the world he had been diagnosed with a “serious illness.”
Spanish outlet Montilla Digital was the first to report that de la Torre died last Thursday, with a funeral service held in his memory the following day.
According to Montilla Digital, de la Torre, who was best known for his role in Netflix’s “Toy Boy,” was unable to “overcome an aggressive illness” but the publication did not share any further details about what caused his death.
Multiple outlets reported that the Montilla, Spain, native announced he was living with a “serious” illness in June. De la Torre did not disclose a specific diagnosis and subsequently stepped away from work to receive treatment.
De la Torre’s seemed to be in good spirits in his last Instagram post, which he shared on June 3. In the carousel of photos, he appeared to be enjoying the Barceló Desalia festival with friends in the Canary Islands. There was no mention of his health in the caption.
The Spanish actor’s first screen credits were for Netflix’s provocative crime series, “Toy Boy,” which he starred in from 2019 to 2021, according to IMDB.

De la Torre also appeared in 36 episodes of the long-running Spanish soap opera, “Amar es Para Siempre,” and joined several stage plays prior to his death.
He is survived by his parents, Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo and Maria Jose Delgado Espejo, as well as his sister.
