It seems like Orlando Bloom wants to be diplomatic about his ex Katy Perry’s reported rebound romance.
Rumors the singer and amateur astronaut is in a budding relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau began swirling late last month after the two were spotted on several outings together.
Then on Wednesday, Trudeau appeared absolutely starry-eyed as he watched the chart-topper perform during a concert in Montreal.
The unlikely pairing of the pop star and politician was great material for the satirical outfit The Onion, which ran a Friday Instagram headline announcing “Orlando Bloom Spotted At Dinner With Angela Merkel.”
Accompanying an AI-generated image of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” stud with the 71-year-old world leader was a cheeky tabloid-style caption that said, “Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.”
Continuing with an account from an imaginary insider, it went on, “‘Angela kept Orlando laughing all night — he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!’ said an insider source who spotted the pair sipping wine, slurping oysters, and splitting a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant.”
The Onion’s made up May-December romance provided Bloom the perfect opportunity to acknowledge his ex’s fledgling fling without having to say a word.
He dropped three applause emojis in the comment section and left it at that.
