SZA Revealed She’d Love To Play Marvel’s Storm In Her Origin Story

SZA shed some light on her dream movie role, and her choice was electric.

During a Friday interview on the “Jennifer Hudson Show,” the “Good Days” singer delved into a range of topics, including her future in acting.

SZA recently started her acting journey by starring alongside Keke Palmer in this year’s comedy “One of Them Days,” produced by Issa Rae, directed by Lawrence Lamont and written by Syreeta Singleton.

But she doesn’t want to stick to just comedy.

“I want to explore what being serious with a full range of complex emotions would be like,” she said.

Though she admitted to Hudson that she never saw herself as an actor, she said it “might be so fun” to appear in a drama or a thriller. That’s when Hudson suggested SZA would be perfect for a superhero film.

“I would love to be a superhero!” SZA exclaimed.

She went on to share that her father “collects first-edition comics,” and growing up, she developed a deep appreciation for both the Marvel and DC universes. Naturally, when it came to choosing a superhero role, she already had one in mind.

“I was thinking, you know how Storm has an origin story,” SZA mused. “I think that would be so gnarly if I could be Storm’s origin story.”

She sealed the moment with a statement fit for the Mistress of Elements herself: “I love to bring the rain.”

“Keke is the most talented person I’ve ever met in real life,” she said. “She extends her aura out mad wide, so big. It’s such an enveloping warm embrace of energy.”
