‘White Lotus’ Star Responds To Rumors About On-Set ‘Romances’ And ‘Arguments’

Maybe Season 4 of “The White Lotus” should be about the making of Season 3.

On Thursday, SiriusXM show “The Happy Hour” posted a few clips on Instagram of a recent interview with actor Jason Isaacs, who played Timothy Ratliff on Season 3 of the hit HBO series.

In one of the clips the Today Show Radio podcast posted, Isaacs appears to be responding to a request to clear up speculation about whether there was backstage drama that went down during the filming of Season 3.

It’s unclear exactly why Isaacs was being asked to spill the tea.

One reason could be that Isaacs told the Guardian in February that working on the “White Lotus” set for seven months in Thailand felt a lot like “a theatre camp, but to some extent an open prison camp” with “alliances that formed and broke, romances that formed and broke, friendships that formed and broke.”

Or it could also be because rumors have been recently swirling online that two of Isaacs’ co-stars, Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins, are currently feuding.

Whatever prompted the request for dirt, Isaacs implied that he’s aware of the chatter surrounding the alleged Wood/Goggins falling out — which stems mostly from the actors’ social media activity.

“I read,” Isaacs said. “I’m careful. I’m not stupid. I look at the Internet. I only read every single word written about ‘The White Lotus’ and about everybody in it.”

The “Harry Potter” alum then went on to clarify what he thought about all the internet’s sleuthing thus far.

“And all these amateur Sherlock Holmes out there … nobody has the slightest clue what they’re talking about,” Isaacs said.

He later added: “You’re just so far from the truth, believe me.”

Isaacs then went on to double down on his previous remarks to the Guardian, in which he likened filming Season 3 to theater camp — but clarified that people who go to theater camp aren’t just actors.

“I’m talking about people you’ve never met before half the time, in different departments and the people in the hair and costume and in the accounts department and stuff,” Isaacs said.

He added, “It was a city, and it wasn’t just the actors. People need to remember it was the actors and the crew and the administrators, and all these people were in a little pressure cooker together.”

“And like anywhere you go for the summer, there’s friendships, there’s romances, there’s arguments, there’s cliques that form and break and reform and stuff like that.”

It’s easy to understand why the “Happy Hour” podcast was compelled to ask Isaacs about any on-set drama because many of his remarks to the Guardian in February were extremely juicy.

“I can’t pretend I wasn’t involved in some off-screen drama,” Isaacs told the Guardian. “There were times when things were not quite so fond. I was in some ways used to it, but within a couple of weeks my, wife [who was with him on set and used to be an actor] went, ‘Some of these people are fucking mad.’ I said, ‘No, it’s just a bunch of actors away on location, love. You’ve forgotten what it’s like.’”
